Admission Eligibility

Imayam Engineering College offers various B.Tech programs, including disciplines such as Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Information Engineering. The eligibility criteria for admission into these programs generally include the following:

1. Eligibility for B.Tech Programs:

Educational Qualification:
  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination (for General category) or 45% (for SC/ST categories).
  • The candidate must have studied Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as core subjects in their Class 12 (or equivalent) examinations.
  • For specialized programs like B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, additional requirements in subjects like Computer Science or Mathematics may be considered.
Age Criteria:
  • The candidate should have completed 17 years of age as of 31st December of the year of admission. There is no upper age limit for most B.Tech programs, but specific restrictions may apply for some categories as per government norms.
Entrance Exam:

The department is equipped with modern facilities, laboratories, and technologies that foster a productive learning environment. Some of the key facilities include:

  • TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions): For candidates seeking admission to B.Tech programs in Tamil Nadu, the admissions are conducted through TNEA by the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE). Candidates must apply for TNEA and participate in the counseling process, based on their performance in the Class 12 board exams.
  • JEE Main: Candidates who have appeared for JEE Main (Joint Entrance Examination) are also eligible to apply. In such cases, the admissions may be based on the JEE Main rank or scores, depending on the institutional policy.
  • Management Quota: A limited number of seats may also be available under the management quota, where the candidate's selection may depend on academic performance, entrance exam scores, and personal interview.

2. Eligibility for Specialized B.Tech Programs:

For specialized programs such as B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS) and B.Tech in Cybersecurity or Machine Learning, the following additional criteria may apply:

Specialized Program Requirements:
  • Candidates should have studied Mathematics and Computer Science (if applicable) in Class 12. Some programs may require specific marks or subject combinations to ensure a strong foundation in relevant topics.
  • For programs like Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, candidates with an interest or background in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics are often preferred.

3. Additional Documents Required:

Along with the application form, candidates are typically required to submit the following documents:

  • Class 10 and 12 Mark Sheets (or equivalent certificates)
  • Transfer Certificate (TC)
  • Character Certificate
  • Community Certificate (for reserved category candidates)
  • Entrance Exam Score Card (if applicable)
  • Passport-sized Photographs
  • Aadhar Card (or equivalent ID proof)
  • Birth Certificate (for age verification)

4. Reservation and Relaxation Criteria (For Tamil Nadu Students):

As per the guidelines of TNEA and the Government of Tamil Nadu, reservations are available for the following categories:

  • Backward Classes (BC)
  • Most Backward Classes (MBC)
  • Scheduled Castes (SC)
  • Scheduled Tribes (ST)
  • Open Category
  • Tamil Nadu Native Students: The student must be a native of Tamil Nadu to avail certain benefits under the reservation system.
  • Differently Abled Candidates: Special provisions are made for physically disabled candidates as per the norms.

5. International Students:

  • Foreign Nationals: Foreign nationals seeking admission to B.Tech programs are also eligible to apply. They may need to submit additional documents such as a passport, visa, and equivalence certificate (from a recognized authority) for their secondary school qualifications.

Steps for Admission:

1. Application Process:

  • Interested candidates can apply online via the official website of Imayam Engineering College or through TNEA (for Tamil Nadu students).
  • After filling in the details, candidates must submit the required documents and pay the application fee (if applicable).

2. Counseling & Seat Allotment:

  • For TNEA candidates, the counseling process is conducted based on the marks obtained in the Class 12 exam. Seat allotment will be based on the candidate's rank in the merit list and availability of seats in the respective branches.
  • For candidates applying through JEE Main or other entrance exams, seat allocation will follow the respective procedures set by the college.

3. Document Verification:

  • Once the seat is confirmed, the college will conduct a document verification process to ensure eligibility. This includes verifying the academic records, identity, and other documents submitted during the application process.

4. Fee Payment & Admission Confirmation:
